A year from now all of the answers to what works, and what doesn't, under Catalina (and beyond) will be answered. But Catalina will have such a profound impact, for now I'm suggesting that you might want to wait as much as a year before upgrading, and maybe *never* upgrading to Catalina at all and instead skip Catalina and wait for the upgrade after that. Usually that's not until there is a point-two (e.g. I always recommend that folks not upgrade to a major new version of the Mac OS until all the bugs are worked out of it. Do yourself a favor and let other people figure out which those are, while you get your work done using a tested and fully functioning system. Lots of stuff is going to break under Catalina, and lots of work-arounds and updates will be appearing in the next year. My advice to those who ask is to stand pat with what you have and not upgrade to Catalina right away after it is released. What we do know is that Apple says that 32-bit software won't run under Catalina. So it is a bit early to go running out and purchasing new hardware just for Catalina. So while someone might know of a trackball that either doesn't need a driver, or whose driver is already 64-bit, they can't tell you if either of those trackballs will work under the *release* version of Catalina for sure. So no one can authoritatively tell you what will or will not work with Catalina when it is released. Well, first, Catalina is only in beta right now. At least for right-hand users.Īnyway, I'm sure your Logitech T-BC21 buttons will still work just fine and probably without any need for ant additional LLC software, or just use their most recent whis is 64bit. To Apple, the "Primary" button = "Click" (left) button. So in their thinking, a right-handed user would select "Left" of course. PS: Apple seems to like referring to Mouse pref pane buttons as " Primary mouse buttons", and then provide an option to set the setting as " Left" or " Right". The LLC software is only needed for any additional button's options and I don't think the Logitech trackball has any more than the left and right buttons, so you should be all set to go and keep your beloved Logitech trackball working. It can even switch what my Logitech mouse main click buttons can do, left or right clicking.
